Is Afghanistan safe to visit in 2025?

How do I apply for an Afghan tourist visa?

Most often guests will first visit the Afghan Consulate in Dubai and use the itinerary and Letter of Invitation that we provide. We will set everything up so that it's a quick, seamless process.

Are Americans welcome?

Yes, Americans are perfectly welcome in Afghanistan. You may be surprised to hear it, but everyone, even members of the Taliban who fought in the war, will welcome you with open arms.

Are non-muslims ok to travel to Afghanistan?

Yes, members of all faiths are invited to visit Afghanistan by the Taliban. Whether you are Christian, Jewish, Atheist, or anything else, you are officially invited to enjoy Afghanistan.

Is it safe for solo female travellers?

Yes, of course women are able to visit Afghanistan and travel freely. Just like men, you'll need to dress conservatively but don't worry, your normal clothes are just fine. No burka required.

Do I need a licensed guide or special permits?

Yes, you will need  permits and an official licensed guide to travel within Afghanistan. Of course, Let's See Afghanistan will arrange everything, you don't need to organize any of this yourself.

What documents do I need to show at checkpoints?

It depends on the checkpoint but this is nothing to worry about. Your guide from Let's See Afghanistan will handle everything. You just need to sit back and relax.

When is the best time to visit?

Afghanistan is a year-round travel destination. In Spring and Fall you will find mild temperatures nationwide. Summer can be hot, but many enjoy it. The Winter in Afghanistan is also gorgeous, with snow in the countryside.

Can I buy a local SIM or eSIM?

Yes, we can help you get a local SIM card so that you have mobile internet. Expect to pay around $10-20 for enough data to use your phone throughout the trip. And yes, you will have signal in most places.

Are there ATMs or do I need to bring cash?

You will be able to use your credit card in a few shops, but it's best to bring all of the cash that you need on the trip in USD, which can then be exchanged for local currency. Western Union is available if needed.
